Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Kanab, Utah 2011
In September of 2011 a group of students including myself went to the Best friends Animal Sanctuary and volunteered our services.while there we helped clean and organize the Cat and Dog shelters. We also we urged to interact with the animals so that they could gain more experience with being around humans. We also took a tour around the bird sections where we saw many exotic and scavenger like birds.I think this was a very good experience for everyone involved because it gave us a chance to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. The organization itself is amazing, spanning over 7 acres and housing over 20000 animals at any given time.I had no idea that one of the biggest animal sanctuary, (which means that they never kill any of the animal that enter their facility) in the country was only a few hundred miles away.
Sylvan Lake
Eagle Colorado, 2012
A group of students including myself went to sylvan lake for a three day trip. While there we did many activities such as sledding and cross country skiing, which many students had not done before.I think this trip was a very good experience because many of us had never been out in the winter weather while enjoying being very active. We plowed our our ice rink and went snowshoeing around the lake itself. We stayed in a solar powered cabin and prepared and cooked our own meals, and enjoyed building and sitting around a fire at night. We played trivia games and various group activities in the cabin and we all got to know each other a little better.I had a lot of fun on this trip and would recommend all new coming students to participate.
